needed this break! Toward the end of the year I was really starting to drag,
but this break has truly refreshed me. I am so excited to start the year off
with a bang! Before jumping right in to resolutions and ideas about the
New Year, though, I want to first do a post to reviews last year’s goals. After all, how can you truly know what still
needs to be done if you don’t first know what has already been completed.
At the beginning of last year, I completed Lara Casey’s
“Goal Setting + Making Thinks Happen” series from her personal blog. Although
she has written many more recent posts on the topic, I chose to complete her
5-part series from 2013 because for whatever reason, it really spoke to me. (Find parts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 here.) I think
the main reason I like it, is because it forces you to not only make new goals,
but to review all of your accomplishments. It is so easy for us to get caught
up on what we didn’t do or what we feel like we didn’t achieve and it’s so nice
to take a step back and count all of our achievements. As large or as small as
they may be, every victory can help us reach our next.
At the time that I completed the series I chose to keep my
goals private. I guess in a way, I felt that if I didn’t let anyone know what
my goals were then I couldn’t fail. Or at least if I didn’t meet some of them,
it would be better that no one knew about it. But over the last year, I have
grown a lot. I have completed a lot of my goals and have fallen short on a
couple. You know what, though, I am human and I am not perfect. But not being
perfect is beautiful.
So, in order to help show you what my goals are for 2015, I
want to first show you what they were in 2014.
I’m not going to post my entire response to the series/steps
because otherwise this would be the longest post of all time, but I will share
with you the most important aspects and a couple of my goals from this past
year.
My Vision for 2014

Expanding Frill’s
bridal department
Check! This year,
Sharon and I went to two different bridal markets, put together an amazing market kit and got into more
than 25 stores.
Getting more press

Check! Hello, Shark Tank!
Half check? I definitely grew my
blog a lot this year, but my posting definitely was not the most consistent.
Vision for 2014 + What I Wanted to “No” to (from Step 7 and Step 8) Just going with the
flow.
Check! How can you pave the way if you are following someone

down to us just because we are younger than them and may appear to be less
experienced.
Check! This is something that we have faced quite frequently
since the start of Frill. Although most people that do not realize that they
are being offensive when they do it, it doesn’t hurt any less. Just because we
are young does not mean we don’t know what we’re doing. We know our customers
better than anyone. Standing up for ourselves has been hard at times, but doing
it can help prevent similar situations in the future.
minute/under priced accounts.
Mostly Check. Saying no isn’t always a bad thing. This is
one of the main lessons we have learned throughout the years. We still had a
couple of last minute accounts that weren’t financially the best decision, but
hey, we’re making progress!
Check! We got a beautiful office in March of 2014 and it has
been so wonderful to be able to “leave work at the office.” The separation
between work time and personal time has been life changing!
what my new goals are going to be for 2015. In the mean time, I highly
recommend doing the series mentioned above. There is something so satisfying
about putting the pen to paper, congratulating yourself on your victories,
analyzing your weaknesses and paving your way for the future.Best in 2015 for all of you!
You go girl! I love that you shared your goals. They're awesome! Can't wait to follow along for 2015. xo
