As a blogger, one of
the most valuable things you can do to grow your business is to partner with
other brands, advertisers and bloggers. Doing this not only increases your
following, but can often serve as an additional source of income or trade of
goods {aka free swag!}. More than that, though, it adds value and credibility to
your blog and opens the door to even more future partnerships. {It only takes
one collaboration to get the ball rolling! When a company visits your site and
see that you have partnered with other brands in the past, they recognize that
it is something you are open to and have experience in.}
But how does it all
work? How do you reel in these collaborations?
simple email from the brand – they complement your blog’s appearance and
content and pitch their potential collaboration. In most situations, though,
the brand that is contacting you has also contacted many other bloggers. So how
do you make sure you are one of the ones chosen to partner with them? Show them
your stats! But do it in a way that is clean and professional… Show them your media kit!
Upon reaching out, the company will want to know more information about your blog’s statistics. But the biggest mistake that you can make is simply responding via email with with some bullet points. When you send a media
kit, it distinguishes you from the other respondents. It shows that you are
professional, that you understand the importance of well thought out branding
and that you know your numbers.
So what should your
media kit include? As a blogger, you are best suited if you have two
versions of your media kit. – A version that is a brief, one page summary and
another that is many pages and goes into a lot of detail. Regardless, the
info included in both should be about the same. You always want to make sure
you include:
Your blog’s logo
A bio and picture
Info on why you blog
An outline of topics/categories covered
Sample content/photos
Statistics (page views, customer demographics, etc.)
Past collaborations
Your URL
Contact info
It still needs a little work, but hey, it’s a great start!

I have been slowly growing my blog over time, and still have quite a bit of work to do, but I love this post! I have recently been doing a bit of research on media kits and working with companies. I still need to get my stats up before heading to the next level, but this is so helpful for when that time comes! Thank you for sharing your tips!

Thanks Morgan! When I first made a media kit, my stats were pretty low, but the numbers always look better when they're presented well! Thanks for reading.

Thank you for the tips, Kate! I literally (finally) created my media kit last week and did a longer version like the second example. It still needs work so this definitely helped! 🙂

Great tips! Pinned that image soI could reference it later! Right now I pretty much just do that in email format, but I am sure they prefer to look at something pretty like that!

Yes! That's how I did it too! I just pinned a lot of them and then referred to all of them at once when I was ready also!

I love this post, and it couldn't have come at a better time. I have recently been considering taking my blog to the "next level", therefore making a media kit is on my to-do list. I love how you provided a few different examples as well as your own (which is super cute!)

I was doing the same a while back and a company contacted me that wanted more info than most of them, so I was like, "Well now's the time!" haha thanks for reading, Autumn!

I honestly have been seeing the term "media kit" everywhere but this was the first post that really drew my attention. You've helped me understand what it is and even given me ideas on how to present my own media kit creatively if offered the chance. I loved this post!
